A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird’s chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, “I’m sorry, ma’am, you duck has passed away.”

“Are you sure?” the distressed woman wailed.

“Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead,” he replied.

“How can you be so sure?” she protested. “I mean you haven’t even done any testing… he might just be in a coma.”

The vet rolled his, turned, and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador retriever. As the lady looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the exam table and sniffed the duck top to bottom. He looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few moments later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back, shook its head and meowed and softly strolled away.

The vet looked at the woman and said, “I’m sorry, but as I said this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck.”

The vet turned to his computer, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.

She took the bill, still in shock. “$1500!” she cried. “$1500 just to tell me my duck is dead!”

The vet just shrugged, “I’m sorry, but if you would have just taken my word for it, it would have been $20. With the Lab report and the Cat Scan, it is now $1500.”

** A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. “Mama, look what I found,” the boy called out. “What have you got there, dear?” With astonishment in the young boy’s voice, he answered, “I think its Adam’s underwear.”

Alfalfa sold steady to a little weaker on lower quality. Quality was generally pretty good. Grass sold a little stronger and buyer interest was good. There was not really enough straw for a good test. The load of cornstalks was new. DON’T FORGET: Monday sales will be starting again in November!! ATTENTION ALL HAY HAULERS: Beginning Sept 5th, the road through Hudson will be closed and you will not be able to get through that way. It will remain closed for the month of September.

** A trooper pulls over a priest and immediately smells alcohol on his breath. The next thing he notices is an empty wine bottle lying on the passenger seat. “Have you been drinking?”  the officer asks. “Just water,” says the priest. “Then why do I smell wine?” The priest looks at the bottle and shouts, “Good Lord! He’s done it again!”
