** My husband and I were dressed and ready to go out for a lovely evening of dinner and theater. Having been burgled in the past, we turned on a ‘night light’ and then put the cat in the backyard. When our Uber arrived, we walked out our front door and out rather chubby cat scooted between our legs inside and ran up the stairs. Because our cat likes to chase our parakeet, we didn’t want to leave them unchaperoned, so my husband ran inside to retrieve her and put her in the back yard again. Because I didn’t want the Uber driver to know our house was going to be empty all night, I explained to him that my husband would be out momentarily as he was just bidding my mother. A few minutes later he got into the Uber all hot and bothered and said (to my growing horror and amusement) as the car pulled away, “Sorry it took so long, but the big stupid was hiding under the bed and I had to poke her in the butt with a coat hanger to get her to come out. She tried to take off, so I grabbed her by the neck and wrapped her in a blanket so she wouldn’t scratch me like she did last time. But it worked! I hauled her fat butt down the stairs and threw her into the backyard. She had better not poop in the vegetable garden again.” The silence in the Uber was deafening.

Thank you to all the participants in the chili cook-off! It was a great success! Paul was the winner (the employees think the contest was rigged.) We had some excellent alfalfa in today. Alfalfa sold a little lower today. We had decent buyer attendance, but poor buyer participation. Grass sold mostly steady. Limited supply on new stalks in today but sold well- lightly tested. No straw sold today.

DON’T FORGET: Monday sales have started!! ATTENTION ALL HAY HAULERS: The road through Hudson is closed and you will not be able to get through that way. It will remain closed until further notice.

**I rang the doctor and said, “Quick! My wife pregnant wife is going into labor, what should I do?” He said, “Is this her first child?” I replied, “No, this is her husband.”

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird’s chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, “I’m sorry, ma’am, you duck has passed away.”

“Are you sure?” the distressed woman wailed.

“Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead,” he replied.

“How can you be so sure?” she protested. “I mean you haven’t even done any testing… he might just be in a coma.”

The vet rolled his, turned, and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador retriever. As the lady looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the exam table and sniffed the duck top to bottom. He looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few moments later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back, shook its head and meowed and softly strolled away.

The vet looked at the woman and said, “I’m sorry, but as I said this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck.”

The vet turned to his computer, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.

She took the bill, still in shock. “$1500!” she cried. “$1500 just to tell me my duck is dead!”

The vet just shrugged, “I’m sorry, but if you would have just taken my word for it, it would have been $20. With the Lab report and the Cat Scan, it is now $1500.”
